It's been 4 long months in the waiting, but a new version of Subvein is here! There's plenty of new stuff to check out! The menu, HUD and graphics have all been reworked and improved. We have fog effects, dynamic map lighting, map decals and more! The netcode and game performance have been improved. There are new battle game options, new skill designs and much much more. Go play!

First impressions:
* I'm loving the new Subvein logo! Graphics are significantly more colourful, sharper and clearer.
* Damn, that's a massive boost in FPS even with maxed out settings! I only lag when facing the Sandstorm in Foundation. Even the map editor loads faster.
* Curses, the grittiness setting has been removed, now I'm forced to deal with the overly sharp contrast between brightness and darkness.
* Netcode seems to have improved too, though I can't really tell as we were testing in a server that's full of lag spikes.
* Falling damage doesn't seem to be a big issue, most of the jumps shouldn't hurt you.
* Spectator controls are awkward. WASD to move around 100% freely, mouse to move the camera in a limited field of vision. Should just make the mouse have equally free vision.

Respawn rounds
* It resets players to spawn, but weapons and vehicles are left lying around. Your weapons are dropped from where you last stood before the reset. This isn't like CS where survivors get to keep their inventory of weapons but everything else was reset.
* I find the respawn to be way too sudden. You can win the match, hear the victory fanfare, but the text is at the bottom of the screen(rather than a big flashing text) and you almost immediately warp into spawn without any warning.
* The respawn setting doesn't automatically include a freezetime with spawnshield(duration up to length of freeze, cannot be broken out of it). This, plus the suddenness and loss of equipment confuses players, and can cause major problems in FFA games and small maps.

New netcode is working GREAT!

* Played at John's server
* 480 ping
* Sniping with Barrett - very good hit detection rate. Good job!
* Knife - kills are delayed, but it works
* Downside to playing in such lag: You are defensively screwed; I could be a mile away on my client, but a Blackhole catches me according to the server and I suddenly warp back.
